Bengaluru-based startup GalaxEye successfully placed its first commercial satellite Drishti in orbit using SpaceX’s Falcon-9 rocket on May 3, 2026.
Drishti is India’s largest privately developed Earth observation satellite, weighing 190 kg.
It is the world’s first OptoSAR satellite integrating Electro-Optical (EO) and Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) sensors in one platform.
The SyncFused OptoSAR payload enables all-weather, day-and-night imaging, seeing through clouds, darkness, and bad weather.
Onboard AI processing using Nvidia Jetson Orin handles data in orbit, reducing time to deliver actionable insights.
Offers 1.5-metre resolution imagery with global revisit every 7-10 days; features a 3.5-metre deployable antenna.
Applications include defence surveillance, disaster response, agriculture, infrastructure, and insurance.
Company plans an 8 to 12 satellite constellation in next four years; already has interest from Indian defence, government agencies, and international partnerships.
